Phlebotomy
What is Phlebotomy?
Phlebotomy is the surgical opening or puncture of a vein to withdraw blood or introduce a fluid.
A Phlebotomist is someone who draws blood from a patient, for a variety of procedures including tests, transfusions, research, medical procedures, or donations. Phlebotomists might work with patients, doctors, nurses, scientists, and lab technicians.
Phlebotomists serve patients by identifying the best method for retrieving specimens; preparing specimens for laboratory testing; performing screening procedures.
Having your blood drawn can be a very sensitive thing for many people, and for others stressful and a little scary, and for that reason alone, we take care with each step in hopes to minimize anxiety and concerns about the procedure.
